STD Q & A (800+)
Q: I have herpes, and I'm just wondering if I want to get pregnant, can I do so without infecting the other person if they don't have it.
Q: Thank you for the response It baffles me that so many people are asking basic questions when sources like the CDC and WebMD are available My suggestion is a quick facts link with a big button on the main page Your customer service is very good I appreciate it.
Q: I have herpes 2. if I am not having an outbreak is it ok for me to receive a hand job from my partner without protection without fear of it spreading to her. Can she get it by giving me a hand job?
Q: Is there an absolute known period of time that the virus can hide before first outbreak? What is thought to be the longest?
Q: I just got married in the Philippines last December with a person I fell so much in love with. I didn't disclose HVS For that I should died
Q: I was diagnosed with HSV-2 in June 2009. I subsequently learned my ex partner had it and cruelly did not inform me because she had been married to her ex for 20-years and he had never caught it? My question is the following: Supposedly you will have an initial episode and then may experience periodic episodes, possibly related to/caused by stressful situations. Why is it that some people have horrible outbreaks, while people like me have never had one. I have never been under more stress in my life than the past six months (diagnosed in June 2009). Are there different "strains" of HSV-2? Is there any correlation to a persons genetics, Irish, German, African American, etc?
Q: What kind of test is most reliable for HSV. Is it one or more to check which type it is? Type 1 or 2. I am going today and need to know what to ask for. Small city and little confidence in the dr. I can get into today
Q: Thanks, I've already been to the one in Cottonwood, & they didn't take me very seriously? Do you think you could find me an infectious disease DR. that I could sit down and talk to regardless of not having a "positive" test result? The only one I could find would not even consider seeing me because I didn't show positive for HIV?
Q: I have been dating a man for about a week now and we really like each other but I'm not sure when a good time is to tell him that I have genital herpes. When should I tell him?
Q: Thank you for the reply. I was wondering if the STD counselors dealt with only medical aspects, or if they helped people with emotional stress also. I have had a very tough time dealing with everything. Also, I was wondering what training/education the counselors on this site have had. I have had ups and downs dealing with this emotionally, but I will admit I have had some very low points. I never thought I would encounter this in my life, and I am trying to deal with it but it is hard at times.
Q: If I'm a gold member and i email someone who is not will they be able to write me back?
Q: That was helpful! I was recently with someone who knew my status but after we were intimate he decided that it wasn't O.K. for him. He was horrified that he would catch it. I know that he was not the right person but, it still made me feel pretty rejected. Better luck with the next man....
Q: I am 43yo male who just recently became infected with genital herpes. I have been communicating everyday via email with a lady in Thailand for three months. We care a great deal for each other but I have not disclosed my condition to her. I plan to travel to Thailand soon to see her for the first time. I do not know if I should inform her of my condition by email or in person? Any help? Thanks.
Q: If my partner has a herpes sore and I have sex with him can it cause me to have a new outbreak? I already have the herpes virus.
Q: If there is such a high number of sexually active adults with the virus and no outbreak why do I ? Does this mean I will always have outbreaks? Is there not a good chance I will never have any more after my body builds up to fight it?
Q: What exactly are the odds of passing on genital herpes if I haven’t had an outbreak in almost a year and I am on daily valtrex? With condom? Without a condom?
Q: How many people contract HSV1? How many people that do contract HSV1 show signs and symptoms? If I have genital HSV1 how easy is it for me to get oral HSV1?
Q: I was wondering if herpes could cause bleeding during sex? I know other forms of STDs can.
Q: When is the best time in a relationship to tell someone you have herpes? It wouldn't be appropriate on a first date of course.... Do I date someone for several months and wait to tell them after trust has been developed? I think that the person might get upset if they fell in love and then decided that they didn't want a relationship with someone with herpes. And what about casual sex?
Q: I'm looking to join a group for people like me. I moved to Madison, Al back in 2005. But have yet to make friends to hang out with. I have friends at work, but don't hang out together outside of work. And should I meet someone that could be a good friend to me. I would like it if they were HIV like me. It would make it a lot easier for me or us to talk about everything that's going on between us. I had a best friend back home and I miss that. Even thou she wasn't positive she listened to me completely. Is it possible to get help with finding a group for me. Madison is right next to the Huntsville area.
