STD Q & A (800+)
Q: Is it possible to give/receive oral sex if I have genital herpes? I cannot find any info on this....
Q: I'm looking for an article I read on HSV-1 vs HSV-2 it explained the differences and how they interact and things like HSV-1 genitally.
Q: Can we transmit HSV2 to another person if they touch our genitals even though we are not showing any signs or having any symptoms? And are on suppressive herbal treatment like Olive leaf and Lying tablets
Q: Is it possible to give a partner HPV in the mouth if I have visible warts? What about if i get them removed, is it possible to spread?
Q: I am curious, can a man with HSV1 pass HSV2 orally during cunnilingus? My doctor told me that it is complicated because the strains have mixed (or something like that).
Q: I have HSV2 and was wondering if it is possible to get HSV1 from a partner when there are no cold sores present...
Q: I didn't know there were herpes 1 and 2 - I get cancer sores in my mouth and occasional sores in the genital area. My question is if I have herpes 1 and I date a guy with herpes 2 - will i get #2 if it's somewhat the same virus as #1 and will the outbreak be a that first REALLY BAD outbreak? Also the tv advertises abriva for stopping the virus of cold sores - I thought cold sores were herpes 1, so could you put abriva on the genitals to stop the spread of the virus there and reduce the time span of it? -
Q: Thank you that was very helpful, but I think I was wrong in my thinking, i thought hsv2 was only genital herpes and that hsv1 was only oral herpes, I guess I was wrong. i only have genital but how do i know if its 1 or 2. What is the difference?
Q: Thank you, Scott. That helped. I just found this site for dating people with the disease and I would think that would be the easiest solution. I hope so. Dating has sucked even when I have found someone I like - with the dread of "telling" hanging over my head. Some people have been accepting - some not so much. Thanks again for your help.
Q: I have had Herpes type I & II for approx. 10 years. I don't remember having a lot of breakouts but over the last 2-1/2 years I decided to take Valtrex daily (500mg). Suggestion from the Doctor. It seems that over the last year and 1/2 I am getting breakouts about every month and a half. (I never remember them being this frequent previously) I am active, healthy, eat well and take care of myself. I thought the longer you have herpes, the fewer breakouts you should have. Why does it seem to be getting worse as time progresses? The breakout itself is not worse, just the frequency has increased. Hope you can help with this.
Q: Some one told me that since I am having one outbreak after another it is likely that this infection is new to my body? My bf has just found out he is positive for the antibodies. Sadly he found out on his birthday. I have only once in the past five months seen a single sore on him. He says he has had no symptoms at all and this one sore may be totally unrelated of course. He is great and staying with me but with the knowledge that he has the antibodies and we have only been together for five months and I first started to feel like I had this about six weeks after we started to sleep together unprotected because he had a vasectomy and we both believed we had clean test results for STD's at the time having asked and been tested for "everything" and not knowing it wasn't everything after all!!! Well does it seem most likely that I did indeed get it from him rather than have it in my system for many months or years? Is that more likely? Or just no way to know? I don't want this info to place blame as he didn't know I just want to have a better idea so I know how far back to go in telling other people I was with even without intercourse or even with condoms I don't know if they were at risk with me or not. Thank you again for your help
Q: He told me he has lymphatic carcinoma...stage four. He said the doc said it is from having sex and that he has HPV. I am flooded with emotions right now. I rejoined this site simply to talk with you folks for mentoring.
Q: I have had conflicting advice. Tell a partner before every having sex - or being cautious, using protection, taking my meds, and not telling him until we're in a committed relationship. I just had a guy flip out because we had safe sex and I told him before the second time. He dumped me after two incredible weeks together. I don't know what's right anymore. I just found this site. Love it. Kathy
Q: If you have only type 2 genital herpes, and a partner has both type one oral and 2 genital. How can you catch type one? Can it be caught by kissing? Oral sex?
Q: Can a blood test be taken to determine the type of virus one might have in their mouth region? Not sure whether i have hsv-1 or if it's hsv-2,i want to know now but there is no out break present for a swab test
Q: Hello, I have herpes-2 for a year now. After I found out my diagnosis, my outbreaks became worse and spread to other areas on my body. I'm pretty sure it was herpes, because it would start with the itching, then blister with yellow or clear fluid, scab, and then heal. First on arms and legs and chest, but never all at once. It seemed to spread as other sores where healing. Now it happens on my back and shoulders, my question is will this continue? Can I expect these o.b.s in other places for the rest of my life? I've had tests done for everything else, including HIV and they all came back negative. The sores on my arms and legs don't happen anymore, but I'm experiencing small single sores on back and shoulders. Also when I get a genital o.b. its usually just one sore with swelling. Apparently my o.b.s are not "typical." I took the "western blot" blood test and it came back positive for type-2. So I know that's what I have. I'm just very discouraged about this, because I can't seem to get any answers on the subject. Thank you for your time.
Q: Can you pass HSV 2 to s person by giving them oral sex?
Q: Oh and I have never had a cold sore in my entire life. And I have been exposed to oral coldsores but never got them. Why did I get them on my genitals? Was it because i did not have the antibodies to fight against it? Was it because the virus was never in my system?
Q: Is there anything I can due to ease the pain or treat the sore?
Q: How likely is a man to get herpes on his mouth if he performs oral sex one woman who has genital herpes?
